Grass!

We've got grass! Exciting, right?!

Well probably not that exciting to anyone else, but it sure is to us.

When we moved in a year and a half ago we didn't have any landscaping to speak of. We spent the beginning of last September (2013) working on getting our backyard ready to plant grass. We ended up planting the seed on Bryce's birthday. The grass grew in amazingly well. So well, in fact, that we decided we should shoot for the same time frame for the front and side yard this year. So this September most of our free time has been dedicated to getting our front and side yard ready for grass.

We got a little delayed and ended up planting a few days after Bryce's birthday, but it doesn't seem to have hurt much. Here is our brand new, baby grass after just 10 days...

I find myself just staring at it.

Obviously it has a lot more growing and filling in to do, but what a difference a little green makes. Here is what the front of the house has looked like, more or less, for the last 18 months...

And this is what it looks like now...

With a little (ok, a lot) more landscaping, a real walkway up to the front door and a clean-up of all the extra tools and pipe laying around we might just have ourselves a real front yard someday. For now though, I'm just going to stare at our grass and enjoy the green.
